I’ve ranked the best AI headshot generators here. I spent over $2,000 on those to save your time and money.
Below, you will find my results with each tool.
Disclaimer: This post has affiliate links at no cost to you.
1. BetterPic
BetterPic is hands down the best AI headshot generator I’ve tested.
This tool turns your selfies to realistic AI headshots that look like you.
Here’s what it did for my images:

👉 Try BetterPic — Get 10% off with code JALLI10
Ease of Use & User Experience
First of all, BetterPic is easy to use.
All you need to do is sign up, send a couple of images of yourself, and answer 5 questions related to your characteristics.

After you’ve sent your images, it takes about 30-90 minutes for the AI to create your pictures.
This depends on the plan you chose.
In my case, I picked the Expert plan because it comes with the human edit option and over 100 images.
Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from this tool:

As you can tell, it’s indistinguishable from the real me. There’s simply no easy way to tell that the image on the right is AI-generated.
In fact, the above headshot is my LinkedIn profile picture at the time of writing this post.

Also, it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more.
Here are more headshots that the Betterpic AI created for me:

I think these images are just awesome. I sent these to my mates and family and they didn’t believe these were not real.
Obviously, AI images are always a dice-roll. There simply can’t be an AI photoshoot where all images are perfect. In fact, your mileage may vary a lot.
That’s why there are those customization features with which you can change backgrounds, clothes, eye color, skin, and more. Heck, there’s even a human edit feature. I’ll talk about these in just a second, though.
👉 Try BetterPic — Get 10% off with code JALLI10
Here are some before-after AI headshots with BetterPic so that you can compare what I look like vs. what my AI avatar looks like:

Isn’t that amazing?
Who could have believed AI headshots would look this realistic just a year or two back!
Customization & Style Options
I like BetterPic because it lets you choose from a bunch of styles.

You can combine places, clothing, and clothing color to form three separate styles.
This way you, can create corporate, creative, and casual headshots.
Also, when you receive your images, you can customise them.
For example, you can change backgrounds, eye color, and you can even request a human editor to take a look and change things around.

The human editor can tweak facial expressions and features too.
For example, I asked the team to remove a necklace from my image.

That’s pretty cool too.
This is useful if you create headshots for your team. This way you can guarantee that every team member has at least one image they’re satisfied with.
Notice that this feature is only in the Expert plan.
👉 Try BetterPic — Get 10% off with code JALLI10
Speed & Processing Time
Be prepared to wait for 2 hours for the AI headshots.
That’s because at least for me, finding 8-16 images was hard and I had to spend at least 30 minutes on it.
Also, the AI renders the images for at least 30 minutes, but usually more.
(However, you don’t need to wait because all the processing takes place remotely, so you can close the window.)
BetterPic is handy because they’ll send you an email once your headshots are ready.
Pricing & Value for Money

BetterPic has three pricing plans:
- Basic: $35
- Pro: $39
- Expert: $79
All these fees are one-time payments. No recurring subscription fees occur!
In my books, the pricing is reasonable compared to the quality offered.
In fact, most other tools have similar pricing but they don’t even allow customizations or refunds.
There aren’t necessarily any hidden fees, but editing the images will cost credits that you can purchase as you need
👉 Try BetterPic — Get 10% off with code JALLI10
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ ease of use
✅ realistic images
✅ best customization options
✅ faster than a photographer
Cons:
❌ Not all images look good
❌ Occasional morphing/unnatural vibe in the pictures
❌ A bit pricey
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
With everything said, BetterPic is my favorite AI headshot generator.
I’ve tested a bunch of these and this one gave the best results, is most customizable, and I’m overall most happy with these headshots.
Rating: 4.7/5

2. HeadshotsByAI
HeadshotsByAI is an AI headshot generator that turns selfies into realistic-looking professional headshots.
It’s one of the best AI headshot generators right now. The only reason it’s not on the top of the list is because you can’t edit your AI headshots.
Here’s an example result I got with it:
Ease of Use & User Experience
Using HeadshotsByAI is easy.
All you need to do is sign up, pick a plan, upload your images, and wait.

Then, once you’ve submitted your images, it takes about an hour or two for the AI to do the “photoshoot.” After that you’ll receive an email that your headshots are ready.
Couldn’t be easier, huh?
Let’s see what kinds of results I got with it.
Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from this tool:

This looks sharp, realistic, and most importantly, it looks exactly like me.
When I look at it, there are very few minor artifacts or details that would give it away.
So if you ask me, it looks as real as it gets.
Also, it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more.
Here are more headshots that the AI created for me:

The only problem these AI headshots sometimes have is that they are a bit morphed, overly smooth, or my stare looks a bit blank.
But these have also taken massive leaps in the past year. When I tried these at the beginning of 2024 for the first time, the teeth, lips, and fingers were completely off.
These days the results are very close. Almost frighteningly close.
Alternatives
Even though I think HeadshotsByAI is an epic tool, it’s not quite the best I’ve tested.
My absolute favorite is called BetterPic.
You can check my complete BetterPic review with results here.
Here’s an image that I got from BetterPic:

This is one of my favorite AI headshots ever. This looks realistic, there are no artifacts, and everything is right.
Also, one reason I always recommend BetterPic over any other AI headshot generator is because of the customizations.
HeadshotsByAI doesn’t allow you to AI-edit your photos. On the other hand, BetterPic lets you change clothes, eye color, skin, backgrounds, and even do human edits.
Customization & Style Options
HeadshotsByAI doesn’t let you customize your AI headshots.
This is one of the reasons it’s not quite my favorite tool. The results are epic but I think customizations are a key part of the process.
Speed & Processing Time
Expect to spend about 15-30 minutes on HeadshotsByAI. This time goes to finding images from your camera roll.
The reason why you need to put in the time here is that the AI tool doesn’t accept any photos. Those need to be clear, well-lit, and no other people should appear in the photos.

Once you’ve uploaded your images, it will take about 60-120 minutes for you to receive your headshots.
So the total time is roughly 90-150 minutes.
Pricing & Value for Money

- Basic: $29
- Standard: $39
- Premium: $59
Considering the basic plan just costs $29, this is one of the cheapest headshot generators out there.
Also, the results are insanely good, right at the top 3 out of the tools I’ve tested.
Remember, that the plans are all one-time fees, so there’s no recurring subscription or any hidden costs.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ Realistic headshots
✅ Faster than real photoshoots
✅ Versatile results in different lighting, clothes, and more
✅ One of the cheapest tools right now
Cons:
❌ No customizations
❌ Small artifacts
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
I love HeadshotsByAI. It’s one of my favorite headshot generators right now.
If you’re looking for a relatively cheap option, choose HeadshotsByAI.
Rating: 4.5/5
3 InstaHeadshots AI
InstaHeadshots is one of the best AI headshot generators on the market.
It turns selfies and turns into professional-looking images.
For example, here’s a before-and-after image I got from InstaHeadshots:

Let me show you more results, how it works, and more.
Ease of Use & User Experience
Using InstaHeadshots is simple. It’s an online software that you can use with your browser.

Perhaps the biggest struggle is finding real images of yourself that meet the criteria. That’s because your images must be clear, well-lit, with no other people in the background, etc.
Prepare to spend a good 10-20 minutes finding those on your mobile camera roll. Or then take a bunch of selfies in different lights and clothes.
Anyways, here’s how you can create your InstaHeadshots AI headshots:
- Take a couple of selfies.
- Sign up to InstaHeadshots.
- Upload the selfies.
- Answer a couple of questions.
- Wait for about an hour.
- Get your AI headshots.

This is an online software, so you don’t need to install anything.
That means you also don’t need to wait for the AI headshots to generate because it takes place remotely on InstaHeadshots servers.
This service will send you an email once your headshots are ready. So you don’t need to wait for the results to generate!
Attention! One thing that confused me was the watermarks on the paid headshots.

Yes, there appears to be a watermark in the headshots you paid.
But worry not, because this goes away if you download your headshots.
The reason there’s a watermark is to protect customers.
If you check your headshots and aren’t satisfied, you can get a refund while the team can be sure you’re not using the headshots for free.
If you download the images, that signals the team that the headshots are good and you’re not asking for a refund.
Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from this tool:

Also, it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more.
Here are more headshots that the AI created for me:

These images look so accurate!
In fact, this makes InstaHeadshots one of my favorite AI headshot generators I’ve tested.
The only downside is that a small portion of the images can be slightly morphed, and you might have some issues with your teeth, lips, and fingers.
Also, from time to time, the stare is a bit blank.
Furthermore, this tool doesn’t let you customize the headshots, which is one of the reasons this is not my absolute favorite tool.
Customization & Style Options
Unfortunately, InstaHeadshots doesn’t allow you to customize your images.
When it comes to creating the headshots, you can choose a bunch of styles to your images, though.
But basically, there’s no direct way to control the headshots you get. Those will always be somewhat random.
But for example, I noticed that if your inputs are mainly selfies, your headshots will mostly be selfies too. So that kind of impacts on what the results will look like.
Speed & Processing Time
This tool is a lot faster than hiring a real photographer.
Expect to spend 15-30 minutes choosing the images to send and sending them.
Then wait about 1-2 hours for the headshots to generate.
Pricing & Value for Money

InstaHeadshots is one of the most expensive AI headshot generators I’ve tested.
The cheapest plan starts at $49.
That being said, the results are good too. In fact, I would put this as one of the top 3 headshot generators I’ve ever tested.
So in that sense, the value for money is high.
But the big downside is that you can’t customize the headshots which some other tools let you do for less than $50.
But if I compare these results to free AI headshots, the difference is like night and day.
For example, here’s a free headshot:

While there’s nothing too bad about this free headshot, it’s just not at the level of the paid ones.
In this image, I look like a 3D character at a closer look.
Now, if you compare this with the paid InstaHeadshots AI headshots, you can see the difference.

This headshot actually looks like me. In fact, when I showed these paid ones to my mates they had a hard time believing it’s not a real image.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ Arguably the best results
✅ Fast and easy to use
✅ Versatile headshots
Cons:
❌ Most expensive
❌ No customizations
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
I love InstaHeadshots. The AI headshots are among the best that I’ve tried.
Rating: 4.4/5
4. ProPhotos
ProPhotos is an AI headshot generator that takes your regular selfies and turns them into AI headshots.
For example, here’s what I got from ProPhotos:

That’s pretty cool, isn’t it? It looks more or less exactly the way I do.
Ease of Use & User Experience
ProPhotos AI is an easy-to-use online tool for creating AI headshots.
Anyone can use it, but you need to sign up and pay first.
The process takes around 15 minutes to find and upload your photos.
Once uploaded, the AI takes about 60-120 minutes to generate your headshots.
The interface is simple and intuitive, making it easy for anyone to navigate.

Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from this tool:

That is so good.
As I said, I can’t tell the difference between the real me and the AI me.
It’s only when you look at it very closely when you see some artificial smoothness, etc.
In fact, I’d say this goes to the list of 20 best AI headshots I’ve ever seen of myself.
This tool doesn’t just create one or two images but a whole bunch more.
Here are more headshots that the AI created for me:

Most of the headshots look good or at least decent.
But if you zoom those close-up headshots, you can see that it’s always a bit too smooth to be a real image.
This is a typical problem with AI headshot generators in general.
For example, my favorite AI headshot generator, BetterPic creates epic results that have little to no artifacts.
Also, a big issue with these ProPhotos images is that those aren’t customizable.
Try BetterPic here—get 10% off with code JALLI10
Customization & Style Options
ProPhotos AI offers a variety of headshot styles, including corporate, creative, and casual looks.
You can’t directly tweak facial expressions, backgrounds, or outfits. The AI generates the images automatically based on your uploaded photos.
Also, no customizations are available in ProPhotos, and I think this is a big miss. All you can do is view and download your headshots.

For me, AI headshots are always somewhat unpredictable, and I’d love to see paid tools allowing for some edits.
Speed & Processing Time
ProPhotos AI takes 60-120 minutes to generate headshots after you upload your images.
It’s about average when comparing with other similar tools. Some are faster, but others take just as long or even longer for higher-quality results.
But one thing is for sure; this tool is a lot faster than hiring a real photographer.
Pricing & Value for Money

Here’s a summary of the ProPhotos AI pricing plans:
- Basic ($39) – 40 headshots, 8 styles, ready in 90 minutes
- Premium ($49) – 100 headshots, 20 styles, ready in 45 minutes
- Professional ($59) – 200 headshots, 40 styles, ready in 30 minutes
- Enterprise (Custom Pricing) – Unlimited customizations, ideal for businesses, includes 24/7 support
There are no hidden fees, but you may need to pay again for more headshots. No free version—it’s a paid service only.
I feel like this is a great value for money. However, I must admit that there are better, more versatile tools that cost just as much.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ Realistic
✅ Easy to use
✅ Versatile results
Cons:
❌ Some artificial vibes in the images
❌ No customizations
👉 Check my up-to-date list of the best AI headshot generators.
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
I like ProPhotos. Some of the results are crazy good.
However, for my use, BetterPic was better.
It simply gave me the best results, customizations, and more.
Rating: 4.2/5
5. PortraitPal
PortraitPal is a paid AI headshot generator that takes your selfies and turns them into professional, vintage-style AI headshots that look like you.
For example, here’s a before-and-after image I got from PortraitPal:

Let me show you my results with it and what’s my overall opinion about this product.
Ease of Use & User Experience
Using PortraitPal is easy and requires no tech skills.
It’s an online AI tool you can use with your browser.

The biggest challenge is finding clear, well-lit photos of yourself without others in the background.
Plan to spend 10–20 minutes searching your camera roll or taking new selfies in different lighting and outfits.
Here’s how it works:
- Take a bunch of selfies.
- Sign up to PortraitPal.
- Upload the selfies.
- Answer a couple of questions.
- Wait for about 60 minutes.
- Get your AI headshots.

Since it’s online, there’s nothing to install, and the AI generates your headshots remotely on PortraitPal’s servers.
You’ll get an email when they’re ready—no need to wait around.
Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from PortraitPal:

The quality is not sharp because I zoomed in to make that before-after image.
As a full image, this picture looks really nice.

Also, it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more.
Here are more headshots that the AI created for me:

These images look pretty much exactly like me. At least at a distance.
The only downside is that a small portion of the images can be morphed, and you might have some issues with your teeth, lips, and fingers.
Also, the closer you look at the images, the more fake they look like.
For example, look at this picture:

By a quick look, this looks good.
But the more you look at it, the less real it looks like. And especially if you zoom in, you’ll see the “AI fakeness” creep in.
Also, this tool doesn’t allow for customizations. You have to be satisfied with what you get.
Customization & Style Options
Unfortunately, PortraitPal just creates your headshots but doesn’t allow for any kind of customization.
There’s no way to control the headshots you get.
This is one of the big misses in my books. I think that there’s always so much uncertainty with AI that you just simply have to be able to control the outputs.
In fact, that’s why I recommend choosing one of the top tools from this list instead.
Speed & Processing Time
This tool is a lot faster than hiring a real photographer.
You might spend about 15-30 minutes choosing the images to send and sending them.
Then wait about 1-2 hours for the headshots to generate.
Yes, it takes some time, but it’s much faster (and cheaper) than hiring a photographer.
Pricing & Value for Money

PortraitPal is a paid tool. The plans start at $35 which is a typical price compared to other paid tools I’ve tested.
But the value for money for me is not that high.
That’s because I’ve tested all these tools, and for example BetterPic.io has the same price but it creates much better results and lets you customize.
However, if I compare these results to free AI headshots, the difference is like night and day.
For example, here’s a free headshot:

In this image, I look like a 3D character or a painting almost. That’s not good!
If you compare this with the paid PortraitPal AI headshots, you can see the difference.

This headshot actually looks like me and less like a 3D-rendered character.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ Great vintage-style headshots
✅ Fast and easy to use
✅ Versatile results in different poses, clothes, and environments
Cons:
❌ Not the best tool, you get better results for same price
❌ No customizations on your AI headshots
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
I like PortraitPal. The results are mostly realistic or at least semi-realistic. Also, the headshots have a vintage vibe.
Rating: 4.1/5
6. AI SuitUp
AI SuitUp is an AI headshot generator that takes your regular selfies and turns those into professional headshots.
Here’s one example of an image I got from AI SuitUp:

That being said, let me show you my results with AI SuitUp, how it works, and more.
Ease of Use & User Experience
The interface is clean, easy to navigate, and intuitive. This makes it simple to upload photos and customize the output.

It typically takes a few hours to generate the headshots, but it can be faster depending on the service load.
There’s a quick turnaround time, cost-effectiveness, and strong privacy practices like deleting images after 30 days.
On the downside, the quality of the input photo heavily impacts the results, and there are limited options for customization beyond the basic templates.
Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from this tool:

Also, it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more.
Here are more headshots that the AI created for me:

The AI headshots look good and pretty much like me.
But some of them are a bit too smooth or artificial.
There are no key issues with facial distortions or weird artifacts, though the results can sometimes feel slightly over-processed.
The headshots are high-resolution and professional-looking, but there’s no customization. This is a big miss. There’s not much control over how the final image turns out.
That being said, my favorite AI headshot generator is BetterPic.
Compared to tools like BetterPic, AI SuitUp falls short.
BetterPic offers more customization, human edits, and overall a more refined, realistic output. It’s just leaps and bounds ahead in terms of flexibility and quality.
For example, here’s an image I got from BetterPic:

That’s just so good.
Also, the customization options are so good.
Customization & Style Options
AI SuitUp offers a few basic styles like corporate and casual, but there’s limited variety.
You can’t tweak facial expressions or backgrounds, and outfit customization is also minimal—just preset options to choose from.
The level of control is quite low.
Once the headshot is generated, you can’t re-edit or refine it. This is where it falls short compared to tools like BetterPic, which offers much more flexibility.
Speed & Processing Time
It typically takes a few hours to process images, though it can vary depending on demand.
Compared to competitors, it’s one the slower side.
Usually, I get my headshots in just 30-60 minutes.
Pricing & Value for Money

ChatGPT said:
AI SuitUp offers three pricing plans:
- Basic: $59 (now $27), includes 50 headshots at 768×768 resolution with a 6-hour turnaround time.
- Professional: $69 (now $37), includes 100 headshots at 1024×1024 resolution with a 3-hour turnaround time.
- Executive: $99 (now $57), includes 150 headshots at 1024×1024 resolution, exclusive styles, and a 1-hour turnaround time.
All plans come with a 100% money-back guarantee.
The pricing is reasonable for the quality, but the lack of customization might make it feel overpriced.
There are no hidden costs or upsells.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ Realistic results
✅ Relatively fast
✅ Easy to use
Cons:
❌ No customization
❌ Some images are too “artificial” and hence unrealistic.
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
I like AI SuitUp. It’s a new and well-working AI headshot generator.
It’s best for users needing polished images without much control.
Rating: 4.1/5
7. DreamWave AI
DreamWave is a popular AI headshot generator—one of the more popular tools on this list if not the most popular.

Let’s see if it’s worth the hype, though.
Ease of Use & User Experience
DreamWave AI guides you through uploading photos and generating headshots with clear instructions.
You don’t need to see a tutorial on how to use it.
Just create an account, drag and drop images of yourself to the view, answer a couple of questions, and wait.

The AI headshots take around two hours to generate. This may vary based on server load and photo quantity.
Also, please be prepared to spend at least 10-20 minutes finding clear images of yourself to be used.
Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from DreamWave AI:

It’s almost exactly like me!
It’s realistic and nice-looking all the way.
The only problem is the smoothness in the image that makes it look as if this was taken through some filter.
Also, it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more. I think I got almost 200 AI headshots or something like that.
Here are more results:

These images are pretty realistic.
But I have to admit right off the bat that I’ve received way better results with other similar tools.
In DreamWave, the results are a bit artificial.
There are some strange AI-generated paths and traces in the skin.
Also, the images are way too smooth and look like they’ve been processed by a filter.
Just as an example, let’s compare the DreamWave results with BetterPic (which is my favorite tool):

If you ask me, I recommend using BetterPic instead of DreamWave. Also, BetterPic has all the customization features that are missing from DreamWave.
Try BetterPic AI—get 10% off with code JALLI10
Customization & Style Options
DreamWave AI offers a variety of headshot styles, including corporate, creative, and casual.
You can’t directly tweak facial expressions.
However, you can do basic edits to your images, such as to remove blemishes and change backgrounds.
Also, you can fix teeth and skin issues that are common in AI headshots.

In this sense, DreamWave is better than most AI headshot generators because it lets you edit your images quite well.
However, this can’t really save bad images in my experience.
The teeth-fix feature is good, but other edits are just icing on the cake.
If the image is bad to begin with, there’s nothing you can do about it really.
Speed & Processing Time
DreamWave AI processes images in about 1 to 2 hours.
It’s generally slower than some competitors that deliver results in under an hour.
There are no strict limits on downloads, but you must upload at least five photos to generate headshots. This is more lenient than some tools that require up to 15 mandatory images.
Pricing & Value for Money

- Free – $0, 16-day wait, 20 photos, no redos
- Starter – $35, 2-hour wait, 120 photos, no redos
- Standard – $59, 2-hour wait, 250 photos, 1 free redo
- Best Value – $99, 2-hour wait, 500 photos, 2 free redos, Photoshop touch-ups
This tool is a bit pricey but includes AI editing and redos in higher plans.
There aren’t necessarily hidden fees, but there are no redos unless you pay, except in premium plans.
Free plan is very slow and limited; paid plans are better for serious use.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ Customization features better than almost any other similar tool
✅ Semi-realistic results
✅ Versatile results and a lot of images
Cons:
❌ Artificial vibe in most images
❌ Once the image comes out bad, you can’t really fix it—not even with the edits
❌ Pricey compared to other similar but way better tools
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
I like DreamWave. It’s definitely in the top 10 of the tools I’ve tested. Especially if you compare it with free tools, the results are on a next level.
Rating: 4.1/5
However, for my use, I’ve found at least 5-10 better headshot generators than DreamWave. You can check those above!
8. Aragon AI
Aragon AI is one of the top AI headshot generators out there.
This tool not only creates AI headshots but allows you to customize and edit those using AI.
Here’s one of the headshots I got from Aragon AI:

Let’s start!
Ease of Use & User Experience
Aragon AI is easy to use.
Just upload selfies, choose your style, and let the AI handle the rest.

Generating headshots takes between 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the plan.
The results look professional, and it’s much cheaper than a traditional photoshoot.
Some images might look a bit artificial, but overall, it’s a fast, convenient way to get high-quality headshots without much effort.
Speaking of results, let me show you what I got next.
Results, Quality & Accuracy of Headshots
Here’s my favorite AI headshot that I got from this tool:

Notice that it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more.
Here are more headshots that the AI created for me:

That’s pretty cool, huh?
Aragon AI produces headshots that are often indistinguishable from professional photos.
However, I’ve seen a lot of issues with facial distortions, especially around the eyes and other features.
For example, in this photo, I look tired.

Also, sometimes my teeth and lips are completely messed up.
That being said, I think Aragon AI is not the best AI headshot generator.
There are much better alternatives, such as BetterPic.io — the number one best AI headshot generator I’ve ever tried.
Customization & Style Options
Aragon AI offers multiple styles for headshots, including corporate, creative, and casual options.
You can customize aspects such as backgrounds, poses, and outfits to match your preferences.

While the platform provides tools for adjusting these elements, it doesn’t support manual fine-tuning of facial expressions.
After generating your headshots, you can use Aragon AI’s photo editor to make more adjustments.
Speed & Processing Time
I tested Aragon AI, and it was fast.
My headshots were ready in about 30 minutes with the premium plan, while the cheaper options took closer to an hour. Compared to other AI tools, it’s one of the faster options.
There are no major upload limits, but the number of downloads depends on the plan you choose.
Pricing & Value for Money

Starter – $35
- 40 headshots, 120 min
- 1 attire, 1 background
- Standard resolution
Basic – $45
- 60 headshots, 60 min
- 2 attires, 2 backgrounds
- Standard resolution
Premium – $75
- 100 headshots, 60 min
- All attires & backgrounds
- Enhanced resolution
I see Aragon AI’s pricing as reasonable for the quality it delivers. Traditional photoshoots can cost hundreds, while Aragon AI’s packages range from $35 to $75, offering different levels of customization and resolution.
There are no hidden costs, upsells, or subscriptions—just a one-time payment.
However, there’s no free version. The paid options provide enough value for professional headshots.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
✅ Lots of results
✅ Great customization features
✅ Versatility in the AI headshots
Cons:
❌ Distorted and morphed headshots
❌ Most images are unusable
❌ Customizations can’t save bad photos no matter what you do
Final Verdict: Is It Worth It?
I like Aragon AI. It’s a good tool and definitely in the top 10 of the best AI headshots generators I’ve tested.
However, it’s far behind the top 3 that I’ve tried. The results aren’t nearly as good, if I’m honest.
Rating: 3.9/5
9. PhotoPacks AI

Headshots are usually expensive, but I found a cheaper option that works just as well. It’s called PhotoPacks AI. It generates headshots for $19.
Let me know if you want it more direct or if you’re okay with this level of simplicity.

My Experience
Let me show you how easy it is to use this tool.
First, sign up for PhotoPacks AI.

Click “Get Your Headshots”.

Buy an AI headshot photo pack:

Answer a few questions about yourself so the AI has a better idea of who you are. That helps it generate headshots that actually look like you.

Next, you pick the main style for your headshots. I chose a business look.

After that, upload your photos to the AI.
Make sure to follow the instructions — it’ll help you get the best results.

Here are my real images that I sent to this AI headshot generator:

After you’ve submitted your images, it’s time to wait.

This one’s a bit slower.
It took about 4 hours for mine, but they say it can take up to 24. You’ll get an email when your headshots are ready.

Here are my AI headshots that I got from the tool:

They look just like me. The lighting’s good, they’re sharp, and most of them turned out clean.
Here are a few more headshots I got:

Here’s the favorite AI headshot I got:

It’s so close. I mean yes, if you take a really close look at it, you can tell it’s AI-generated. But you really have to zoom it in and analyze it to realize this.
But notice that not all headshots turn out this great. For example, here’s one of my least favorite ones…

Most of the headshots turned out well — some were even better than I expected. There weren’t as many bad ones as I thought there’d be for a lower-cost tool. Overall, I’d say the quality holds up against other AI headshot generators.
Pros
- Simple to use. Sign up, answer a few questions, upload your photos, and that’s it.
- Realistic results. In my case, the headshots looked like me and didn’t feel fake or overly edited.
Cons
- No editing options. You only get the images as they are. If one’s off, there’s no way to fix it.
- Longer wait time. It can take up to 24 hours to get your headshots back, which is slower than most similar tools.
Pricing

PhotoPacks headshots only cost $19.
My Take
I’m pretty happy with how my AI headshots turned out. Out of the 100+ I got, quite a few actually look like me.
They’re great for things like resumes or profile photos on professional sites.
I wouldn’t use AI for anything big like a wedding, but if you just want to look put-together online without dealing with photo shoots, outfits, or posing — this is way easier.
Only downside: it’s hit or miss, and PhotoPacks doesn’t let you adjust anything. But since you get so many, you’ll probably find a few that work.
10. AI SuitUp

AI SuitUp is one of the better AI headshot tools out there, and it’s priced under $30.
It’s not higher on my list because you can’t customize the results — but most of the time, the images turn out well enough that it doesn’t really matter.
Here’s a look at the kind of headshots I got with it
My Experience
First, head over to this page to start using this AI headshot generator.

I’d go with the Professional plan — you get 100 headshots with that one.
That said, the Basic plan still gives you a good idea of what to expect, and the quality doesn’t change based on which plan you pick.

Read the instructions for sending the photos to the tool.

Specify your characteristics for the AI to better understand what you look like in the real world.

Upload your selfies — something from your phone’s camera roll works just fine. They don’t need to be professional.

Sometimes the upload fails if the image is too small. If that happens, just pick a different one.
This tool will ask you to upload your best photo — that’s the one the AI uses as the base for generating the headshots.

Once the AI validation is ready, hit “send.”

Wait about an hour or two.
Once the AI finishes generating your images, you’ll get an email letting you know they’re ready.

No need to hang around while the images are generating. It took about 60 to 120 minutes for me, so just close the window and wait for the email. When it arrives, click the link to check out your headshots.
Here’s what I got:

These definitely look like me.
You can use the like/dislike buttons to clean up your gallery and get rid of the ones that don’t work.

Make sure to save the email or catalog link — there’s no sign-in option on AI SuitUp, so that link is the only way to get back to your images later.
Pros
- More affordable than most other AI headshot tools
- Simple process — just upload selfies and wait around an hour
- Results look realistic and actually resemble you
- Good range of styles and poses
- Most images come out clean, with few artifacts
Cons
- Some images might miss the mark or not look like you
- A few have a slightly 3D or rendered feel
- No way to edit or customize the final images
Pricing
So, what’s the cost? Let’s get into that.

- Basic: $27 (Originally $59)
- Professional: $37 (Originally $69)
- Ultimate: $57 (Originally $99)
To Take Home
AI SuitUp is definitely a strong option.
The results are some of the best I’ve seen — easily top 10.
But the wait time, and the lack of customization, knock it down a few spots on the list for me.
11. GoStudio AI

ChatGPT said:
Professional headshots usually cost quite a bit, but I found a more budget-friendly option that still gives you good results.
It’s called GoStudio AI.
You can’t edit the headshots, but the images it generates are sharp, realistic, and overall pretty solid.
Here’s what I got:
My Experience
Here’s how it went for me — pretty straightforward.
Start by signing up on the GoStudio AI website.

Click “Get Your Headshots,” then choose your style and gender.

Read the instructions.

GoStudio gives you clear instructions to help make sure your photos meet their quality standards. It’s worth paying attention to those — following them makes a big difference in the results.
After that, upload your selfies so the AI knows what you look like.
Here’s what I submitted:

At this point, I ran into some issues — a few of my images failed to upload, and when that happened, the whole interface froze. I couldn’t move forward, which got frustrating fast. Took me quite a few tries to get it working.
Once you manage to upload your photos, the next step is choosing a plan.

I’d recommend going with the plan that gives you the most headshots. The more you get, the better your chances of ending up with ones you actually like — most of them won’t be perfect.
One thing that stood out with GoStudio was how simple the whole process is. That’s both a good and a bad thing.
On the plus side, you don’t need 20+ photos of yourself or have to fill out a bunch of personal info like some other tools ask for.
On the downside, it feels pretty limited compared to some of the top AI headshot generators out there.
Anyway, here’s what I got from GoStudio:

When the results came in, I was actually pretty happy with how they turned out.
Here are a few more:

The main issue is that the results feel too generic and one-dimensional compared to what the better tools offer.
Most of the headshots look the same — same aspect ratio, same suit, same framing. There’s very little variety. In one image I was sitting, and a couple had slight pose changes, but that was about it.

One thing I did like is that the headshots don’t have that overly fake, AI-generated look. They mostly come across as real photos, which is something GoStudio seems to get right.
Overall, there’s not a lot to complain about — but it does feel basic and limited compared to other tools I’ve tried.
There are no editing or customization options either. What you get is what you get. That’s another reason this one falls short next to the top-tier tools.
Pros
- Super easy to use — just a few steps from signup to finished headshots
- Realistic results that actually looked like me
Cons
- No editing options — you’re stuck with whatever the tool gives you
- Slower turnaround — results can take a couple of hours
- Upload issues — I had trouble getting my images through; the interface froze a few times
Pricing

- Standard ($24 one-time): 40+ headshots, 1-hour processing, 1 pack, 20 poses, great for resumes.
- Premium ($19/month): 40 headshots, 30-min processing, 1 pack/month, 20+ poses, ideal for creators.
- Pro ($49): Up to 150 images, 2-day delivery, custom brand look, perfect for personal branding.
My Take
I ended up with a bunch of usable shots — way better than I expected, to be honest.
The smaller plans are also pretty affordable. Out of all the AI headshot tools I tested, this was one of the cheapest.
They’re great for things like resumes, LinkedIn, or any other online profile.
I wouldn’t use them for major life events like engagement photos, but if you just want to look sharp online without booking a photographer or dealing with awkward posing and outfit planning, this does the job.
It’s not perfect — a few shots will probably miss — but you get enough variety that some are bound to work.
12. The Multiverse AI

The Multiverse AI is one of the original AI headshot generators. It was actually one of the first AI headshot generators I tried.
You can create high-quality headshots for $29, and what sets it apart is the ability to customize your results using prompts. You can tell the AI what you want to see in your photos, which no other tool I’ve tested has offered so far.
My Experience
To use it, head over to this page and sign up.

You’ll see a screen asking you to upload images of yourself.
Avoid taking a bunch of selfies for this step.

Upload your images.
I’m using the same set of photos across every AI headshot generator in this list so I can compare the results fairly.

As you can see, these are mostly close-up headshots or selfies.
Multiverse AI includes an editor that lets you crop your images. Make sure to go through each one and crop it according to the guidelines.

One issue I ran into was that the tool flagged almost every image I uploaded. The problem was that most of them were too small.

If you get the same error, use an image upscaler to make your images larger so that the tool accepts them. To be fair, I don’t think this is a problem anymore, but I haven’t tested it with a too-small image for ages.

Drop each image into the Multiverse AI editor one by one.
Keep doing this until you’ve uploaded 12 images.
If you don’t have that many, take a few more in different settings using your phone. Avoid uploading a bunch of similar selfies — variety matters.

Enter your email so you’ll get a notification when your images are ready.
Also, make sure to select your gender before continuing.

Hit “Upload” and wait.

For me, it took around 60 minutes for the AI to generate the images.
You can close the window once you’re done — everything runs online, so you can even shut down your computer if you want.
When the images are ready, you’ll get an email that looks like this:

Here are my AI-generated professional headshot results:

Pretty cool, honestly.
These look completely real to me. The last one might be a little off, but the first two? They hold up really well when you compare them to my actual headshots.

The resolution and lighting aren’t perfect, but the AI did a great job capturing my facial features and placing me into professional-looking shots.
Here are a few more of the AI-generated headshots I got:

There are a lot of images — I think around 100 professional headshots in total.

You should definitely give this one a shot — especially because of the custom feature that lets you guide the AI on what you want in your headshots.
Once your images are ready, you can access the custom page at: themultiverse.ai/custom/
Pros
- Realistic, professional-looking headshots
- Good variety across different settings and styles
- Great for LinkedIn or a CV
- High resolution without the typical “AI” feel
Cons
- Takes over an hour to process
- Some images still have a slightly artificial look, especially with newer models
- Many of my photos weren’t ideal for the AI to work with
- No free trial available
Pricing

The Multiverse AI costs $29.00.
To Take Home
This tool lets you guide the AI by telling it exactly what kind of images you want to create of yourself.
As far as I know, it’s the only AI headshot generator that offers this kind of customization — which is why it ranks high on the list.
That said, the results didn’t quite match the quality of the best tools I’ve tested.
Still, like I mentioned earlier, results can vary. They’ve clearly put a lot of work into building this, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the quality improves over time. I’ll be curious to see how it performs in a few months.
13. Fiverr AI Headshots
Fiverr is probably a name you’re already familiar with — it’s one of the most well-known platforms for hiring freelancers.
What you might not know is that there are AI headshot gigs on Fiverr too.
These gigs are run by photo editors who use their own AI tools to create headshots for you. The big benefit here is that you can ask for revisions and give feedback to improve the results, all within the same gig and price.
The downside? It’s not quick. Mine took about 6 hours, and if I remember correctly, the default turnaround time is usually 24 hours or more.
My Experience
Let me show you what I got from the Fiverr AI headshot gigs.
Keep in mind — this isn’t a tool you use yourself. You’re hiring someone who uses an AI headshot generator for you.

I went with a creator named Ghanou K — he seemed like the most promising option for headshots on Fiverr.

To get started, pick a freelancer who specializes in AI headshots. Just search for “AI headshots” on Fiverr and browse through the options until you find someone who fits what you’re looking for.

ChatGPT said:
Once you’ve talked with the freelancer you’ve chosen, they’ll send over a custom offer based on what you discussed.

You can choose to accept or decline the offer. In my case, the headshots cost 23€, which is around $25.
After accepting the gig, I sent over my real photos to the headshot creator.

Then the gig started.

I came back to check my results. Here’s what I saw:

They looked pretty great at first glance, right? But once I zoomed in, some of the images were a bit blurry and didn’t feel all that realistic.
No big deal though — I just asked the freelancer to fix them and send over a new batch.

I told my needs:

I waited for some hours to get my new headshots:

These turned out way better. I also ended up with a lot more to choose from — AI action figure headshots, winter themes, celebration-style shots, even some fan edits.
Really liked the variety of the headshots! I love the idea of not creating the headshots but instead havin a professional generate those for me for better customization.
Pros
- Real humans work on your headshots
- You can ask for revisions if something’s off
- The results are solid and actually resemble you
Cons
- This isn’t a traditional AI generator — you’re hiring a person, which might not be ideal for everyone
- While the results were good for me, they weren’t the absolute best. Depends on who you hire
Pricing
Pricing depends on the creator. Some charge $10, others $50 or more. I’d recommend checking reviews and ratings before picking someone.
To Take Home
I like Fiverr AI headshots. They’re good value for what you pay.
It’s slower than other tools, and since you’re working with a real person, it’s not exactly an “AI generator” in the usual sense. Still, if you’re looking for customizations and a bit of a human touch, it’s definitely worth a try.
14. ChatGPT

Then there’s ChatGPT. Since March 2025, it’s been possible to upload photos of yourself and ask ChatGPT to modify them — which basically turns it into an AI headshot generator.
My Experience
ChatGPT is free to use, and on the free plan, you can create around 3 to 5 headshots per day.
That makes it the best free AI headshot tool out there right now.
It doesn’t directly edit your uploaded photo. Instead, it generates a new image based on your input — something that resembles you, but isn’t an edit of the exact image you uploaded.
In my experience, the image quality and customization options are impressive. That said, the results didn’t really look like me.
To try it out, just upload a photo, then ask ChatGPT to turn it into a professional headshot, dating profile picture, or whatever kind of image you want.

It usually takes a minute or two for ChatGPT to generate your headshot — sometimes even faster if the system isn’t busy.
Here’s one of the results I got:

I like how it turned out — the image is sharp, the lighting looks good, and the outfit fits the style I asked for.
But to me, it just doesn’t look like me. And I’ve heard the same from others.
That’s what makes ChatGPT headshots a bit tricky. People might tell you they look amazing, maybe even better than the rest — but if you don’t feel like you recognize yourself in the photo, it doesn’t matter much.
That’s exactly how I felt with the headshot above. Technically, everything’s right. But I’ve seen myself in the mirror a thousand times, and this just isn’t it.
Still, one thing that really stands out with ChatGPT is how customizable the headshots are. You can ask for pretty much any style, background, or vibe, and it’ll give you something in that direction.

You can either generate a new image by continuing the chat and giving more instructions — or just click on your existing headshot to make direct edits.

These edits are seriously next-level. No other AI headshot generator even comes close to this kind of flexibility. You can ask for pretty much anything.
For example, I asked ChatGPT to place me rowing on the surface of Mars — and it pulled it off.

That kind of image could make for a funny social media post — or at least it would have before the internet got flooded with AI-generated content.
One thing to keep in mind: ChatGPT doesn’t actually edit your photo. It recreates it from scratch, trying to keep things looking realistic and close to the original.
Because of that, if you ask for multiple versions in the same thread, the resemblance usually starts to fade. The accuracy drops a bit the more variations you request.
Pros
- Free for a few headshots each day
- Simple to use — just describe what you want and the AI handles the rest
- Customization options are unmatched, only limited by what you can imagine
Cons
- The results start to look repetitive — after 10 to 20 headshots, the patterns become obvious
- If you generate a lot, it’s easy to tell someone used ChatGPT for their headshots
- Limited image generation even on paid plans — with the Pro plan, you can only make around 10 to 20 images per month
- If you’re using ChatGPT only for headshots, the subscription might not be worth it
Pricing

- Free – Basic AI access for everyday tasks: GPT-5 (limited) • Web browsing • Custom GPTs & macOS code editor
- Plus – More tools for productivity & creativity: Extended GPT-5 & limits • Advanced voice + video • ChatGPT agent & projects
- Pro – Full power for advanced and pro users: Unlimited GPT-5 (Pro/o3-pro) • Unlimited voice + Sora video • Codex agent access
To Take Home
I think it’s worth trying ChatGPT for headshots. If you like how they turn out, there’s really no need to spend money on an expensive headshot package.
But if the results don’t quite hit the mark for you, I’d suggest going with one of the dedicated tools from the list instead.
15. Profilebakery

Next up is ProfileBakery.
Just a heads-up — this is one of the lower-ranked paid AI headshot generators on my list, and it shows. The image quality is noticeably worse than what you get from most other tools here.
That said, one thing it does have going for it is a happiness guarantee, which is a nice touch.
Let’s take a look at how it works.
My Experience
To start using the tool, go to their homepage and click on “Start now.”

Read the instructions.

Here’s one of the images I sent to this AI tool.

When you have chosen your images, drop them to the view and upload them for the AI to learn what you look like.

This tool also asks you to upload a “baseline image.” That photo sets the main facial expression the AI will use in your headshots.
If you want most of your results to have a smile, make sure your baseline image has one.

After uploading your images, there’s a bit of a wait. It took about an hour for me, but in some cases, it might take 3 to 4 hours to get your headshots.

No need to stick around — you can close the window, and you’ll get an email notification once your images are ready.

When the email shows up, your AI headshots will be waiting in a shared Google Drive folder.

It does feel a bit odd that the images are delivered through a shared Google Drive folder. Most other AI tools have their own private galleries built in, which feels more secure and polished.
But anyway, let’s take a look at the image quality.
Here are a few of my favorites:

The results are decent overall. The more I looked at them, the more they started to feel a bit like 3D characters — not bad, just slightly off.
Feel free to compare them to the originals and decide for yourself. 🙂
Pros
- Professional-looking and mostly realistic images
- Good variety in outfits, poses, and backgrounds
- Built-in tools to clean up minor AI glitches
Cons
- Fewer images than most other tools offer
- The interface feels a bit rough, like a weekend side project
- Slower turnaround time compared to similar tools
Pricing

- AI Mini: $24
- AI Regular: $29
- AI Pro: $49
16. HeadshotMaster.io (Free)
Best free AI headshot generator

HeadshotMaster.io is a free AI headshot generator that transforms a single selfie into professional-looking photos.
It offers different styles for things like resumes and LinkedIn, and you don’t even need to sign up. It also puts a strong focus on privacy.
It works a lot like the paid tools I’ve tested — it generates new images that resemble you. The main difference, besides being free, is that it only requires one photo and gives you just 4 AI-generated headshots in return.
My Experience
First, you’ll need to answer a few basic questions — things like your gender, age, hair color, eye color, and ethnicity.

Upload an image of yourself to this view.

Wait for about 30 seconds.

After that, the tool generates a set of headshots that are meant to look like you.
Here’s what I got:

You can view more results by clicking through the options on the left-hand side.
Here are a few more headshots I got:

Pretty cool for a free tool.
But to be honest, the results don’t quite look like me. The closer you look, the more it starts to feel like a 3D-rendered version of a person rather than a real photo.
Pros:
- Fast — you get results in just a few minutes
- Only one image needed — no need to upload a whole batch of photos
- Semi-realistic — the images kind of resemble me
Cons:
- 3D look — the headshots have a slightly artificial, game-character feel
- Inconsistent — some results were robotic or way off from how I actually look

17. Vheer.com (Free)

Here’s another free AI headshot generator that’s worth checking out: Vheer.com.
It’s part of a larger AI platform, and the headshot generator is just one of several tools they offer.
I was honestly surprised by how well it worked. For a tool I hadn’t heard of before, it turned out to be one of the better free options I’ve tested.
My Experience
Creating an AI headshot with Vheer is really straightforward.
Just head over to their website, then upload your photo into the upload area on the page:

Here’s the image I used.

Next, adjust the settings on the right side of the screen.
You can choose from a list of styles to get headshots that match the look you’re going for.

You’ll also see an option to add custom prompts — a great way to fine-tune your AI headshots even more and get exactly the style or vibe you’re after.

Another handy feature is the ability to choose the aspect ratio for your headshots. This makes it easier to get images that fit perfectly on platforms like LinkedIn, resumes, or social media.

This kind of flexibility isn’t common with AI headshot generators — most tools lock you into a square or 9:16 format, with no option to adjust.
I tested Vheer with a few different styles and settings.
Here’s what I got:

This first result honestly caught me off guard. I expected it to be worse. To be clear, it’s not great — and definitely doesn’t compare to what the paid headshot generators can do — but from a distance, it actually looks pretty decent.
I’ll point out what the main issue with this tool is in a moment.
But first, here’s another free AI headshot I created using Vheer:

And here’s yet another:

Now, let’s get into the main issue with this tool: even though it’s free and super easy to use, the quality doesn’t really hold up.
Let me zoom in a bit so you can see what I mean.

Let’s zoom in a bit more to see better:

Here you can see what I mean — it does resemble me, but the realism just isn’t there. It looks more like a 3D-rendered character or something out of a wax museum.
This is the usual problem with free AI headshot generators. They’re fast and accessible, which is great, but the trade-off is image quality.
From a distance, these headshots can pass. But zoom in for even a couple of seconds, and it’s obvious they’re AI-generated.
Pros
- Totally free — no cost at all
- Very fast — results in about 30 seconds
- Solid at first glance — probably the best free headshot tool I’ve tested so far; looks decent if you’re not too close
Cons
- Not realistic up close — the facial features feel artificial, like a 3D character
- Limited input — since it only uses one photo, the AI doesn’t have much to work with
- Free comes with limits — like I’ve said on my blog and elsewhere, free AI headshot tools still have a long way to go
Price

18. AIEase (Free)

Another good AI headshot generator that’s completely free is called AIEase. This tool creates images for you in just seconds from simple image inputs. You don’t even need to sign up for the tool to start using it.
Let me show you my results with it.
My Experience
First, sign up to the site and pick a style for your headshots.

Then upload a real image of yourself.

Then, after waiting for about 15 seconds, here’s your result:

Pretty cool, right? Though I’ve got to be honest — it doesn’t really look like me. If I had to rate it, I’d give it a 5 out of 10 compared to the paid tools on this list.
Pros
- Free — doesn’t cost anything
- Fast — takes just about 30 seconds to generate results
Cons
- Unrealistic — the images don’t really resemble me in real life
- Inaccurate — with only one input image, the AI doesn’t have enough data to work with
Price

19. HeadshotPro (Free)
Next up is HeadshotPro, a background-swapping tool that uses AI to detect edges and isolate you from the original image.
The idea is simple — upload a photo, and the tool transforms it into several professional-looking headshots by changing the background.
Like PFPMaker, which I’ve covered in earlier posts, it doesn’t generate a new face. Instead, it enhances the photo you already have by placing it in more polished settings.
My Results
Here’s my favorite before-and-after from HeadshotPro:

The lighting in the final image looks spot-on and realistic.
But to be honest, that’s just luck. The AI didn’t adjust the lighting on my face — it just happened to match well with one of the better backgrounds from their catalog.
You can get similar results by manually picking a background from this view:

This isn’t really a true headshot generator, since it doesn’t create a new version of your face. Instead, it uses AI to remove the background from your photo and swap in a new one.
You get access to a library of pre-made backgrounds, and the whole process is fast. It’s easy to try different looks and find one that works with your image.
One downside is that the backgrounds aren’t generated on the fly — they’re pre-built. So every time you hit “generate,” you’re just cycling through existing options. In the end, it’s more of a background remover and editor than a full AI headshot tool.
Pricing
Free!
I’ve not graded these background generators since it’s technically not an AI headshot generator.
20. PFPMaker

PFPMaker is an AI tool that helps you create clean, professional-looking profile pictures by changing the background of your existing photo.
It’s free, and it works faster than most other tools — mainly because it doesn’t generate new images. It simply removes the background and replaces it with a pre-made one.
Technically, this isn’t a full AI headshot generator. But thanks to its solid background removal, image enhancement, and easy-to-use templates, it’s a great option if you just want to polish an existing photo — especially for something like LinkedIn.
My Results
Here’s the before-and-after I got using PFPMaker:

My Experience
Using this tool is easy. Just sign up and create by uploading your image to the view:

Wait for 15 seconds.

Here are your AI headshots:

Just like the previous “AI headshot generator,” this one isn’t actually generating new headshots — it’s really just a background changer.
That said, it’s still worth experimenting with if you want to quickly upgrade an existing photo without much effort.

By the way, you can tweak your images to better match the background and lighting.
Just click on any image to open the editor view. The customizer there lets you adjust things like background color and tone so it blends more naturally with your skin and overall lighting.

I’ve not graded these background generators since it’s technically not an AI headshot generator.
21. Canva Headshot Generator

Canva also offers an AI headshot generator — but I’ll be honest, it doesn’t live up to the hype.
Its spot on this list is well-earned, and not in a good way. The headshots it created didn’t look like me at all.
The only reason it’s included here is because it ranks high on Google for “AI headshot generator,” which means a lot of people are trying it and walking away with the wrong impression of what modern AI headshot tools are actually capable of.

In reality, this is one of the worst AI headshot tools I’ve tested.
My Results
Canva’s headshot maker is easy enough to use. Just open Canva, head to the Apps section, and search for “AI headshot generator.”
Upload a photo, select your gender, and wait for the tool to do its thing.
Here’s what I got:

After about 10 seconds, you’ll get an AI-generated version of yourself.
Sounds exciting — so let’s see how mine turned out.
Here it is:

Umm… yeah. I really hope I don’t look like that in real life.
The result was just bad. It reminded me of those over-edited 2010 Instagram photos where every single filter was stacked on top of each other.
Honestly, it felt like a waste of time.
This might’ve been impressive five years ago, but by today’s standards, it’s way out of date.
Don’t get me wrong — Canva is great overall. Some of the graphics in this post were made with Canva. But it seems like sometimes they roll out tools just to rank for keywords and bring in traffic, not necessarily to offer something useful.
And when those tools don’t gain traction, they stop updating or improving them — which is exactly what this headshot generator feels like.

To Take Home
This was just one of several AI headshot apps on Canva, so if you’re already using Canva regularly, it might be worth trying a few others out.
That said, most of them likely rely on the same or similar free APIs to generate the headshots — so I wouldn’t expect anything groundbreaking.
Bonus: InstaHeadshots Free Version
Best free + paid option

Last but not least, here’s one more free AI headshot generator worth mentioning.
Technically, it’s not a full AI headshot generator — it’s more of a background changer. So keep that in mind. Still, it’s a solid tool and definitely one I’d recommend checking out.
My Results
Here’s what I got from InstaHeadshots for free:

These look pretty epic at first glance, and I think the background blends in naturally in most of them.
But just to be clear — this tool didn’t generate my face or create new images. It only swapped the background. So it’s not a true AI headshot generator.
That said, if you’re looking to quickly test out some free tools, these AI background changers can still be a decent option to improve what you already have.

Since it doesn’t generate new headshots, I can’t really rate it as a headshot generator — so it gets a 0/5 in that category.
Bonus 2: The Face-Swap Strategy

Let me show you a clever little trick that gives you more control over your headshots — and it’s completely free.
It involves using ChatGPT and a tool like FaceSwapper.
Here’s how it works:
- Use ChatGPT to generate an image of a person that fits the style or vibe you want.
- Take a selfie of yourself in good lighting.
- Swap your face onto the AI-generated photo using FaceSwapper.
- Repeat the process until you land on something that looks natural.
- Done — now you have a headshot that looks like you and fits the style you’re after.
Here’s an example of an image I generated with ChatGPT to start the process:

This base image has the right style — but yeah, it doesn’t look like me at all.
The next step is to merge your actual face into it.
To do this for free, you can use a tool like aifaceswap.io.
Here’s how:
- Upload the AI-generated image as the Original image
- Upload your selfie as the Face image
The tool will swap your face into the AI image, giving you a more personalized and realistic headshot.

Wait for about 60 seconds and here’s your result:

Pretty cool, right? This one actually looks a lot more like me.
If you want even better results, try taking a few more selfies with different angles and lighting — it can make a big difference. Also, don’t rush the image generation step in ChatGPT.
The more specific and thoughtful your prompt is, the better the base image will turn out.
Bonus 3: InsMind AI

InsMind is a newer AI headshot generator that gives you five free AI headshots when you sign up.
The catch is that you can only download low-res versions for free. And while the results aren’t amazing, they’re honestly not bad for a free tool — better than most I’ve tested in this category.
Let me show you what I got:
My Experience
I generated a bunch of AI headshots using the InsMind tool.
It’s super straightforward — just sign up, upload a photo, and wait about 30 seconds.
Here’s the first result I got:

The next one turned out pretty fun — it’s got a happy vibe and actually kind of looks like me.
Definitely impressive, especially considering it’s coming from a free AI headshot generator.

This next one looks decent from a distance — the composition and style are on point.
But once you zoom in, the quality really drops off. The details just don’t hold up.

This one looks a bit like a painting:

Here’s my least favorite result:

In that headshot, there’s a slight resemblance — but it’s not quite there. The lighting and clothing do look good, though.
Now here’s the main issue: if you try to download your headshots for free, this is the quality you get:

Yeah, it’s just not there — not even close. And the watermark doesn’t help either.
In that sense, it’s hard to even call it a free headshot generator.
If the image quality were higher and downloads weren’t locked behind a paywall, I’d honestly say this could be one of the best free tools out there. But as it stands, it stays near the bottom of the list.
That said, one thing that did surprise me was how many editing options the tool offers. There’s a lot you can tweak, which isn’t common with free AI headshot generators.

If you select one of the editing options, it opens up a studio view like this:

The editing view actually looks a lot like Canva — which makes me think this is more of an online design platform, and the AI headshot generator is just one feature within a bigger toolkit.
I didn’t dig too deep into the platform beyond that, but overall, it’s a solid semi-free tool. Definitely one you might want to try. If the headshots come out well for you, the paid upgrade might be worth it.
Pros
- Easy to use — just sign up and upload a photo
- Lots of styles to pick from
- 5 free images (though you can’t download them in high quality)
- Results are somewhat realistic and look pretty decent
- A strong option for a semi-free headshot tool
Cons
- Paywall blocks high-quality downloads
- Results can be hit or miss — not super accurate
- Free tier requires a sign-up, unlike some other tools that don’t
Pricing

- Yearly: $69.90
- Monthly: $9.90
I could give it a better score, but because I thought it would be free and I had to pay to download high-quality images, it’s not higher on the list.
Interesting Observation
Please, have a look at these three different AI headshot generators and their landing pages.
1: Fotor AI headshots:

2: HeadshotMaster AI headshots:

3. Supawork:

Looks a bit too similar, doesn’t it?
I’m not going to get into why I think that is, but let’s just say I have a strong suspicion.
All I’ll say is: make sure you’re not paying for something you could be getting for free on another site.
Just a thought. Just a funny observation.
Any Good Free AI Headshot Generators?
A lot of people search for free AI headshot tools — and I get asked about them all the time.
Here’s the deal: the best headshot models today rely on advanced AI systems and serious computing power. That’s why they cost money.
Free tools, on the other hand, usually run on lighter models or older tech. They’re fast and accessible, but the trade-off is obvious — weird face shapes, flat lighting, awkward angles, or images that just don’t look natural.
You get what you pay for.
Even ChatGPT, which is probably the best free headshot generator right now, has its limits. You can make a few images per day, and the results are solid for basic use — but it still doesn’t come close to what the top paid tools can do.
Those platforms are built on high-end models that need expensive GPUs to run. That costs real money.
So yes, free AI headshot tools are fun to mess around with and can be helpful in a pinch. But if you need something polished — like a clean LinkedIn profile picture or a professional bio photo — it’s usually worth investing in a proper, paid tool.
Otherwise, just be ready for mixed results.
