6 Best Free AI Headshot Generators for 2025

Tired AI headshot generators always costing nearly $50?

This is a complete list of the best free AI headshot generators.

Towards the end, I will also compare the free headshots with paid ones, as I’ve spent over $2,000 on those.

Let’s start!

1. HeadshotMaster.io

HeadshotMaster.io is a free AI tool that turns selfies into pro headshots.

It’s the best free headshot generator I’ve tried.

You get various styles for resumes, LinkedIn, and more—no sign-up needed and great privacy.

It’s super fast, taking just around 2 minutes to use.

Let me show you the results I got.

My Experience

Let me show you how to use it and the results I got.

Using HeadshotMaster is simple—just answer a few questions about yourself.

Then upload an image of yourself to the view.

Then wait:

In just 2 minutes, the AI generates your headshots.

Here are my results, for example:

That’s pretty cool, right?

For example, here’s a real picture of me:

Pretty close, huh?

Here are more images:

There’s one issue, though.

The AI images still look a bit too much like 3D characters and more like art than actual photos.

So, I wouldn’t recommend free AI headshot generators. Paid ones are the only way to get truly usable results.

I’ve created a full list here.

Let’s continue with the list because we have a bunch more free tools.

⭐ My Grade ⭐

  • Realistic: 2.7/5
  • Customizable: 1.5/5
  • Waiting time: 5/5
  • Total: 2.7/5

2. AIEase

There’s another free AI headshot generator that works differently. It’s the fastest and easiest to use, but the results match that.

Still, your experience might differ.

Let me show you what I got.

My Experience

First, pick a style:

Then upload your image:

After 20 seconds, you’ll see your AI headshots.

Once again, it’s a fun experiment, but it doesn’t look much like me. There are some traits, but it’s clearly more of a 3D character than a realistic image.

⭐ My Grade ⭐

  • Realistic: 2.5/5
  • Customizable: 0/5
  • Waiting time: 5/5
  • Total: 2.3/5

3. HeadshotPro

Next up is HeadshotPro.

This generator doesn’t create your face—it removes the background and replaces it with something else.

Let me show you the results.

My Results

Here’s my favorite AI headshot it created:

In this case, the lighting of my original images fits the background pretty well.

Of course, there are more backgrounds to choose from:

Keep in mind, this isn’t really a headshot generator since it doesn’t create your face.

It uses AI to remove the background and replace it with a new one.

So it’s more of a background replacer tool.

For this reason, I won’t give it a grade because it’s not creating the images similar to other headshot makers do.

4. PFPMaker

PFPMaker is another background-changing headshot generator. It uses AI to detect edges in your images and swaps the background based on that.

My Results

Here are my results:

To use it, upload an image to this view:

Then wait for 10 seconds or less…

And there you go:

Be sure to click on your headshots to make customizations, like adjusting lighting and changing backgrounds.

5 ChatGPT + AIFaceSwap

ChatGPT said:

Let me show you a smart way to make free headshots with more control over the final look.

The trick is to use two tools together: ChatGPT and AI FaceSwapper.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Generate a base image with AI.
  2. Take a selfie.
  3. Swap your face with the AI image.
  4. Repeat until you get the perfect result.

Easy and effective!

Here’s an example I made using ChatGPT.

ChatGPT said:

I’m not done yet because I’ve only completed the first part.

Next, I’ll merge the face from this image with my actual selfie.

To do this for free, use a tool like aifaceswap.io.

Upload the AI-generated image as the “Original image” and your selfie as the “Face image.”

It’s that simple.

Here, I’ve dragged and dropped both images into the view:

Here’s what I got:

Pretty cool, right? Looks a lot like me — at least close enough!

For better headshots:

  • Take more selfies and test different ones.
  • Experiment with the ChatGPT prompt to fine-tune the AI image.

Hope you like it.

6. Canva Headshot Generator

Canva also has an AI headshot generator.

But I’ve got to be honest—it’s pretty bad.

The images it creates don’t look like me at all. I’m mentioning it because it ranks high for keywords like AI headshot generator, and a lot of people use it.

I want to show that this is not what these tools do.

So, let me show you how Canva sees me:

That’s absolutely terrible. It looks like one of those 2010 Instagram photos where someone applied all the filters to make it look “cooler.”

I really hope I don’t look like that.

It’s not worth it—it’s just a waste of time.

Even though Canva is a great tool otherwise, this headshot generator is awful, even for being free.

⭐ My Grade ⭐

  • Realistic: 1.0/5
  • Customizable: 0/5
  • Waiting time: 5/5
  • Total: 1.1/5

Free vs. Paid AI Headshots

Let’s be honest—free AI headshots are nothing compared to the best paid ones.

My favorite paid AI headshot generator is BetterPic.

Here’s the kind of result BetterPic gave me:

My Recommendation

Use paid AI headshot generators if you want to use them in social media.

My favorite headshot generator is BetterPic.

The free tools are good for fun and demonstration but not really applicable to anything else.
