Just sign up and follow the simple step-by-step instructions.

Then upload some images.

Fill in your information and choose some preferable styles.

Then wait.

Generating the AI headshots usually takes a few hours, but it can take longer during high-demand periods.

However, you can close the window. The team will notify you once the headshots are ready.

That’s really how easy it is.

These are so realistic, sharp, and versatile.

I like the fact that it nailed those “public speaking” headshot because I think no other tools (except for Aragon perhaps) allows you to create those.

The only problem I have is that the closer you look at the headshots, the more fake some appear. This is not an issue with all of them, but I’d say 80-90% of the results fall into this category.

Notice, however, that this tool lets you edit your headshots.

For example, here I’m changing the background of my AI headshot with a cafe background.

That’s handy!

However, the edits aren’t perfect. You can only customize the backgrounds and clothing but not really change the images. If it’s a bad one to begin with, it will remain bad.

You can choose from various backgrounds and outfits to customize your headshots.

However, you cannot tweak facial expressions directly. In fact, there’s no AI headshot generator that would let you do this right now.

The level of control over the final results is limited. You can only choose from the generated headshots based on your initial preferences.

That’s essentially a different image. It’s nothing like that original one was. So that was a bit of a disappointment. The edits are basically just creating an entirely new headshot not like the initial one.

It typically takes a few hours to process images with HeadshotPro, though it can be slower during high-demand periods.

Compared to competitors, the processing speed is generally on par, though some services may offer faster turnaround times.

The process takes around 15 minutes to find and upload your photos. Once uploaded, the AI takes about 60-120 minutes to generate your headshots.

However, if you zoom those close-up headshots, you can see that it’s always a bit too smooth to be a real image.

This looks sharp, realistic, and most importantly, it looks exactly like me.

When I look at it, there are very few minor artifacts or details that would give it away.

So if you ask me, it looks as real as it gets.

Also, it’s not just one image you get but a whole bunch more.

The only problem these AI headshots sometimes have is that they are a bit morphed, overly smooth, or my stare looks a bit blank.

But these have also taken massive leaps in the past year. When I tried these at the beginning of 2024 for the first time, the teeth, lips, and fingers were completely off.

These days the results are very close. Almost frighteningly close.

Even though I think HeadshotsByAI is an epic tool, it’s not quite the best I’ve tested.

My absolute favorite is called BetterPic.

Also, one reason I always recommend BetterPic over any other AI headshot generator is because of the customizations.

HeadshotsByAI doesn’t allow you to AI-edit your photos. On the other hand, BetterPic lets you change clothes, eye color, skin, backgrounds, and even do human edits.

HeadshotsByAI doesn’t let you customize your AI headshots.

This is one of the reasons it’s not quite my favorite tool. The results are epic but I think customizations are a key part of the process.

Speed & Processing Time

Expect to spend about 15-30 minutes on HeadshotsByAI. This time goes to finding images from your camera roll.

The reason why you need to put in the time here is that the AI tool doesn’t accept any photos. Those need to be clear, well-lit, and no other people should appear in the photos.

Once you’ve uploaded your images, it will take about 60-120 minutes for you to receive your headshots.

So the total time is roughly 90-150 minutes.

However, the reason this is not my number 1 pick is because you can’t customize these images.

The only downside is that a small portion of the images can be morphed, and you might have some issues with your teeth, lips, and fingers.

Also, the closer you look at the images, the more fake they look like.

By a quick look, this looks good.

But the more you look at it, the less real it looks like. And especially if you zoom in, you’ll see the “AI fakeness” creep in.

Also, this tool doesn’t allow for customizations. You have to be satisfied with what you get.

Unfortunately, PortraitPal just creates your headshots but doesn’t allow for any kind of customization.

There’s no way to control the headshots you get.

This is one of the big misses in my books. I think that there’s always so much uncertainty with AI that you just simply have to be able to control the outputs.

In fact, this makes InstaHeadshots one of my favorite AI headshot generators I’ve tested.

The only downside is that a small portion of the images can be slightly morphed, and you might have some issues with your teeth, lips, and fingers.

Also, from time to time, the stare is a bit blank.

Furthermore, this tool doesn’t let you customize the headshots, which is one of the reasons this is not my absolute favorite tool.

Customization & Style Options

Unfortunately, InstaHeadshots doesn’t allow you to customize your images.

When it comes to creating the headshots, you can choose a bunch of styles to your images, though.

But basically, there’s no direct way to control the headshots you get. Those will always be somewhat random.

But for example, I noticed that if your inputs are mainly selfies, your headshots will mostly be selfies too. So that kind of impacts on what the results will look like.

This tool is a lot faster than hiring a real photographer.

Expect to spend 15-30 minutes choosing the images to send and sending them.

Then wait about 1-2 hours for the headshots to generate.

InstaHeadshots is one of the most expensive AI headshot generators I’ve tested.

The cheapest plan starts at $49.

That being said, the results are good too. In fact, I would put this as one of the top 3 headshot generators I’ve ever tested.

So in that sense, the value for money is high.

But the big downside is that you can’t customize the headshots which some other tools let you do for less than $50.

But if I compare these results to free AI headshots, the difference is like night and day.

For example, here’s a free headshot:

While there’s nothing too bad about this free headshot, it’s just not at the level of the paid ones.

In this image, I look like a 3D character at a closer look.
